Pride & Preston Lin launches March 19!

All Bookstore Dates

Join me for a Pride and Preston Lin bookstore event!

I’m so excited for the launch week of my Austen retelling Pride and Preston Lin , starting Tuesday, March 19, 2024, and I hope you will join me in person at a bookstore event to celebrate. I love meeting readers, doing readings, answering questions! Delightful. So far there are three bookstore events scheduled, one in Seattle, one in Palo Alto, and one in Los Angeles (Culver City). Two do ask for reservations, so please click the links to get the exact details!

  • Tuesday, March 19 at 7pm. Third Place Books, Seward Park location. Third Place has three locations, so don’t make the mistake of showing up at the wrong one! Third Place does not require purchasing the book, but they do ask you to buy a free ticket, so they can plan numbers. If you have paper copies of any of my other books, I would be happy to sign those too for you, but I think they’ll only have Pride and Preston Lin in stock.
  • Wednesday, March 20 at 7pm. Books Inc., Palo Alto Town & Country location. Join Abigail Hing Wen (Loveboat Taipei) and me for book talk and book fun, directly across from the Campus Where It Happens. Yessiree, you can almost see Lissie driving by or Preston coming from a workout at the Avery Aquatic Center. No reservations necessary in Palo Alto.
  • Friday, March 22 at 7pm. The Ripped Bodice, Culver City location. Haha–the other Ripped Bodice location is in Brooklyn, clear across the country, so really be sure you don’t show up at the wrong one! This famous romance bookstore does require the purchase of a ticket (the cost of the book), and reservations end March 17, so sign up now! Fellow author Suzanne Park (The Do-Over) will chat with me about life, the universe and everything.

It’s been several years since I’ve done a bookstore event, so I’m super excited for these, though a little nervous about the L.A. one because I don’t know anyone in L.A! Please do feel free to share this with friends and family and book clubs. The more, the merrier.

Pride & Preston Lin
When perspiration meets privilege, love might just school them both.

She’s working two jobs to get through college. He’s the golden boy who doesn’t know the meaning of struggle.

One fateful night at the family’s restaurant, Lissie Cheng accidentally serves a dish containing shellfish paste to an allergic customer, running afoul of the wealthy Lin family and wonder boy Preston in particular. Preston Lin, star swimmer and Stanford Ph.D. student, who is as handsome as he is self-righteous. When his response to the incident threatens the family livelihood, Lissie must scramble to outwit him. If only he didn’t keep popping up in her life, so she could despise him in peace!

Preston’s life hasn’t always been picture-perfect. Before Lissie came on the scene, he worked hard not only at school and at swimming, but also at burying a few things he’d rather forget. But that girl–! The past isn’t the only thing she’s stirring up.

In this sparkling contemporary riff on Austen’s classic, the beloved story gets a fresh spin. Who will prevail over Lissie’s heart? Her pride or Preston Lin?
